Earth Day Canada is pleased to welcome Valérie Mallamo as the organization’s new Executive Director to support its pan-Canadian expansion and the deployment of new environmental programs.
A Rich Experience in Management and the Environment
With 25 years of management experience and a keen interest in environmental issues, Valérie brings to the organization an ideal balance of consulting and business development skills and a keen understanding of the dynamics of running a non-profit organization.
After studying at McGill University, Valérie honed her skills in team management, operations optimization and strategic development with large national organizations. There, she held the positions of Account Manager followed by Director of Client Services. She then reoriented herself towards the environment and completed a master’s degree in the field. Valérie became the General Manager of an environmental company facilitating the implementation of water and energy saving products for residential customers, municipalities, and social housing managers in partnership with Hydro-Québec. At the same time, she has been involved in the LGBT+ Family Coalition for more than 20 years, where she currently serves on the Board of Directors.

Strengthened in her ecological commitment throughout her career, Valérie seized the opportunity to join Earth Day Canada to take up the pressing challenge of mobilizing the greatest possible number of society’s actors to go green. Since her arrival, Valérie has been working to develop the Action/Reduction waste management support program for municipalities across Canada.
Valérie said “The choice to join Earth Day was so easy. It’s a great opportunity to use all of my work experience and personal interests for the good of an organization that is essential to our society’s sustainability. The team is great, both in terms of employees and our Board of Directors. The projects and partners are impressive. I am confident that together we can increase the positive impact of the organization across the country.”
